DAYS HOURS MINUTES
Olympic Park, Schwabing, Leopoldstraße with Siegestor, Englischer Garten, Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz, Königsplatz and the Olympic Stadium. The route of the 25th MUNICH MARATHON reads in places like an excerpt from a guide book with the most beautiful attractions of the Bavarian metropolis. But the anniversary marathon in the city with heart offers more than architectural pleasure; it is traditionally Bavarian and full of surprises: For the first time, there will be a six kilometer costume run, a half marathon and a student run in 2010.
An anniversary run premiere: For the first time in the 25-year history of the MUNICH MARATHON, it is also possible to run a half marathon distance. And so that the participants can also experience the whole ?Munich Feeling? at half the distance, this route also goes along the most beautiful places in the Bavarian metropolis: The start takes place at the half marathon point of the marathon at Weltenburger Straße in Bogenhausen. From here, the route follows the marathon course through Munich East. Over Rosenheimer Straße, past Gasteig, the course proceeds over the Marienplatz, past the Residenz, over the Odeonsplatz to the Siegestor and through the residential area in Munich-Schwabing to the Olympic Park. The high point is - as with the marathon ? the finish line through the large marathon gate into the Olympic Stadium. Enjoy!
If you think that the marathon and the half marathon are too long, but the marathon relay is too short, there is a track and field classic: The 10,000 Meter. The same things apply: Beautiful route, fantastic public. After starting in the neighborhood of the Olympic Park, you run through Schwabing, then along Leopoldstraße and Ludwigstraße and pass the Siegestor before turning into the Odeonsplatz. Finish line: Naturally, the Munich Olympic Stadium.
An alternative to the marathon: Five runners share the marathon route. And this has its charm. In the process, the shared experience is at the forefront. Whether you run the marathon as a company or a private group, it's fun, strengthens cohesion and levels the chain of command.
(Folklore run)The first Munich costume run is international, friendly and traditional. Runners of all nations and states are called on to run a six kilometer route in their national dress on the day before the marathon. The course leads to a section of the former marathon route from Willi-Gebhardt-Ufer in Olympic Park up to the Nymphenburger Schloss and back again. This is not about a fast time (no time measurement!) but more about friendship, sport and fun.
Participation in the Trachtenlauf München is free of charge.
Afterwards, there is a Bavarian Breakfast in Olympic Park with Weißwurst (Bavarian veal sausage), pretzels and beer. If you would like to take part in this, you can order for 5.00 euros* this right with your registration.
